LAURIE, LOU TO PERFORM TOGETHER AT ARIZONA BENEFIT

Laurie and Lou have announced their participation in the MIND MEETS MUSIC benefit concert on April 5, 2009 for the Yongey Peace Prevails Center in Phoenix, AZ. The benefit will feature performances by Laurie & Lou together and solo, the local group Lyra, a performance by artist Shangao Cai as well as an introduction to Meditation and Music by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. The benefit will be held at the Chandler Center for the Arts.

LAURIE TO LECTURE ON ANDY WARHOL

This spring Laurie will deliver one of the inaugural lectures in the American Pictures Distinguished Lecture Series - the result of a pioneering partnership between Washington College, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery. Laurie will be delivering a lecture on Saturday, March 15 exploring Andy Warhol's "Electric Chair" silkscreen series. Lectures take place in Washington D.C. in the Smithsonian's recently renovated National Historic Landmark building: the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture in the Nan Tucker McEvoy Auditorium. Free tickets will be available day of lecture beginning at 3:30PM at the G Street lobby information desk, limit two per person. Eighth and F Streets, N.W. LAURIE ANDERSON RECEIVES GISH PRIZE

The performance artist Laurie Anderson has been named the winner of the 2007 Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize. She will receive about $300,000 and a silver medal in ceremonies at the Hudson Theater on Nov. 13. Recognizing outstanding talents in the arts, the prize, in its 14th year, is a legacy from the silent screen stars Dorothy and Lillian Gish, who were sisters. Lillian's will specified that it should be awarded annually to "a man or woman who has made an outstanding contribution to the beauty of the world and to mankind's enjoyment and understanding of life." Previous recipients include Ornette Coleman, Bill T. Jones, Lloyd Richards, Arthur Miller, Isabel Allende, Bob Dylan, Ingmar Bergman and Frank Gehry.
